Baited pesticide-treated biodegradable spheres were evaluated for their efÞcacy to control and monitor apple maggot, Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh), and blueberry maggot, R. mendax Curran, ßies. A Plexiglas pane treated with sprayable Tangle-Trap was found to be an effective technique for assessing the fate of Rhagoletis ßies encountering treated spheres. متن کاملPhylogeny of the genus Rhagoletis (Diptera: Tephritidae) inferred from DNA sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase II.
Despite a considerable literature describing the biology of flies in the tephritid genus Rhagoletis, the phylogenetic relationships of the more than 60 species classified within the genus are not well resolved. Knowledge of these relationships is important, not only in terms of obtaining information that will be useful for the control of Rhagoletis where it is an agricultural pest, but also in ...
متن کاملA New Visual Trap for Rhagoletis cerasi (L.) (Diptera: Tephritidae)
The European cherry fruit fly, Rhagoletis cerasi (L.) (Diptera: Tephritidae), is the most important pest of sweet cherries in Europe. The aim of our experiments was to develop a new, cost-efficient, lead chromate-free and more eco-friendly trap for monitoring and mass trapping of R. cerasi. Five different-colored yellow panels and three different trap shapes were compared to a standard Rebell(®...

Apple maggot fly, Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh) is a major pest causing considerable economic losses of fruits in North America. During the development of international trade, apple maggot fly has become a threat to Chinese agriculture. In this study, CLIMEX and ArcGIS were used to predict the potential geographical distribution of apple maggot fly in China. The parameters used in CLIMEX for app...
